Adjusting to Life with Two
Well, it has been a while. Needless to say we have been busy. The Japanese nanny is working out. Ava cries when she sees Keiko but after I leave the house she does just fine. I love her, she is great with both Ava and Sophia. Right now I have her just coming once a week.
The baby sling has been one of the best purchases I ever made. I carry Sophia in it pretty much all day. If she isn't in the swing she is strapped to me. It is great. I can pick Ava up, carry her, change her diaper and clothes, and whatever else I need to do while still being able to hold Sophia. We go for walks and play outside with it everyday. Ava has been making friends with the neighbors and we have gone on quite a few play dates.
I can honestly say it isn't as bad as I thought it would be, especially with Garry being gone the past 3 weeks. If I don't get a chance to eat, I grab a Slim Fast that I keep in the refrigerator for such an occasion. Ava has been sleeping in her bed all night and Sophia has been waking up about 2 times in the evening. Usually midnight and 3 am. I have been getting more rest than I thought I would.
Ava has been adjusting well with being a sister. She gives Sophia lots of kisses, hugs, and likes to feed her the bottle. Typically, Ava will climb in my lap with a book while I'm feeding Sophia and the three of us read the book in the recliner or watch Baby Einstein. Ava is quite the character, just this morning, while we were playing outside she drops her sidewalk chalk in my coffee. While I was rinsing that out, she grabs Sophia's bottle and shakes it on the floor spilling milk everywhere. Of course I have to clean that up, don't want to attract the ants that I FINALLY got rid of that had infested the ENTIRE house last week. Once that is done I sit down and discover she colored my iPhone with hot pink sidewalk chalk. The entire phone was covered. Thank goodness I had the protective case and screen cover so it didn't do any damage. All of this took place within 20 mins of our morning. It is hard not to laugh, most of the stuff she does is pretty funny but I don't want to encourage it. That is how most of our days go. Lot's of playing and laughing.
Garry gets back sometime next week so I should be able to keep up with the blog at least till he deploys. Thanks for reading.
